ITALY-SOUTH TYROL'S KASTELRUTHER SPATZEN
The Kastelruther Spatzen are a musical group from Kastelruth, South Tyrol, who have won many honours and awards for their schlager in folk music style. The Kastelruther group, born in 1976, released in 1983, their first single which was awarded a golden disc. Actually Norbert Riers is the lead singer of the group, with others six members, Valentin Silbernagl, Walter Mauroner, Albin Gross, Karl Heufler, Kurt Dasser, Rüdiger Hemmelmann. The 17 june 1990 the Kastelruther Spatzen gain the Grand Prix der Volksmusik, the more valuable prize of music folk of all the German linguistica area, with the song "Tränen passen nicht zu to say" ("the tears for you are not well"), definitively the top of folkloristica music in German language. But the several prizes do not have to be forgotten that the "Kastelruther sparrows", 4 Hitparade, several Golden discs and prizes. They have been prized also with the Super Hitparade, the "Goldene Stimmgabel" ("diapason of gold"), the "Krone der Volksmusik" (the "crown of folkmusic") and many golden and platinum discs. In the 2000 they won the "Milleniumstrophäe" (the Trophy of the Millenium) for incredible 10 million discs sold. Moreover the Kastelruther Spatzen are the only musical group to the world to have gained 11 times the Echo Music Award, the musical prize more prestigious important and in Germany, not only for the music folk, but for the music in general terms, placing itself in front of international star like Madonna, Michael Jackson and Robbie Williams. Every year their concert in Kastelruth village gather thousands of people, mainly from German speaking countries that visit also the incredibile fan shop and the small museum, built in wood like a typical South Tyrol's mountain hut.
