The secret of Ljubljana, the barracks of nearly forgotten countries, Austro Hungarian Empire and socialist Jugoslavjia, recycled in the most glamorous aunderground culture capital of Europe where has the right of citizenship any vision of the world, and of the future. Just after the bridges crossing the Ljublianika river an Austro-Hungarian urban center ends at the gates of the capital of the Slovenian alternative culture. Metelkova Mesto, 12,500 square meters of old barracks, is the phoenix of the most extensive, and most successful, European urban social experiment of art and alternative music. Each year more than one thousand five hundred alternative events revitalize Metelkova. Color blaring graffiti acids explode from the walls of buildings that have become art galleries and artists studios, iron statues, fragments of our disposable culture have become landmarks and urban installations. A self-proclaimed "Autonomous Cultural Zone", a city within a city where soldiers and prisoners of a dark past have been replaced by artists and musicians, an area of creativity button and a collective feeling among street art, live music and cultural events.
