Malta-Mdina, the silent capital

Mdina, the old capital of Malta, is a medieval walled town situated on a hill in the centre of the island. Called the Silent City the town is still confined within its walls, and has a population of less than three hundred. Today most of Mdina's palaces serve as private homesand only a limited number of resident and emergency vehicles are allowed within Mdina, where a unique collection of churches and palaces attract tourists from around the world.
